What To Bring

You may wonder what you will need to bring along with you for your stay here at New Beginnings Lake Charles. We want you to be comfortable and feel at home during your stay with us. Our Admissions Staff will discuss with you the kinds of personal items you are allowed to bring and what not to bring.

You will need only a few personal items such as:

  • Photo ID: Driver’s License or Passport
  • Health Insurance card
  • Any current medications in original prescription bottle with label attached
  • A list of known allergies
  • Comfortable clothing and shoes for at least week. On-site laundry facilities and supplies are available.
  • Alcohol-free toiletries including: toothpaste, toothbrush, mouthwash, shampoo, deodorant, hairdryer, comb, etc..

Other items to consider packing:

  • Books
  • Writing materials for journaling
  • Family photos
  • Spiritual and religious items
  • Alarm clock

What not to bring:

  • Any personal care items containing alcohol
  • Clothing with designs or wording promoting alcohol, drugs or violence
  • Aerosol sprays
  • Laptops
  • Radios, CD players, iPods
  • Jewelry or other valuables

Upon arrival on your first day, you will check your bags in with one of our trusting Staff while you get settled and complete paperwork. Our Staff will look at your belongings to make sure that there are no prohibited items or substances brought into the center. Personal items found inappropriate to have during treatment will be sent home with the accompanying family member/ friend or will be stored and returned to you at the time of discharge. All personal items will be catalogued to ensure you take all of your personal items home with you at the end of your stay.
